In 1747, the count of Finnmark, Rasmus Kieldsen, made life difficult for the Kvens and Sami. Someone had to stop the evil county governor. Knud Qvæn made the long journey from Alta to Copenhagen to inform the king of the situation, and in doing so, wrote himself into history as the first Kven hero.

Aaret duo has created a storytelling concert based on Knud Qvæn's heroic deeds, intertwined with newly written ballads and new Kven folk music.
Aaret duo – Gro Raattama (fiddle and vocals) and Jani Suvanto (guitar, cittern and keyed harp) write new music with Kven language and themes in the lyrics. They also play traditional songs and dance tunes from Finnmark.
