Riddu Riđđu Festivála and the Centre for Northern Peoples present the Buošši Prize during this year's Riddu Riđđu festival. The Buošši Prize is a cultural prize awarded to individuals, teams or associations that have made a positive contribution to the visibility of the Sea Sami language and culture, either through their work or by being a role model.

We are now looking for suggestions for award recipients. The person or persons must have a connection to Nord-Troms: Kåfjord, Storfjord, Lyngen, Nordreisa, Kvænangen or Karlsøy.
Sajje Solbakk, Festival Manager at Riddu Riđđu Festivála encourages people to submit a nomination:
“The Buošši Prize is about lifting our own. Do you know a passionate person in your community who is working to preserve Sea Sami culture? The prize will be awarded for the fourth time - and we need your nomination!”
Svein O. Leiros, CEO of the Centre for Northern Peoples, thinks it's an important award to give out:
“”We think it's important to award this prize in order to recognise and highlight enthusiasts in our own region. Their commitment to the Sea Sami culture is of great importance to us all. We hope for many nominations this year too!"
The prize is awarded annually at the Riddu Riđđu Festival, and the winner receives NOK 10,000.
Proposals and justifications should be sent to buossi@riddu.no by the deadline of 17 June 2025.
"It's a great honour to present such an award. For the past three years, we have awarded the prize to worthy winners who have been recognised for their positive efforts to promote the Sea Sami language and culture.
