How can you agree on the future - when you can't even agree on the past?
An unprecedented legal battle between indigenous peoples unfolds on film: Two Sami groups are pitted against each other in court, locked in an irresolvable conflict that has its roots in the state's forced relocations over a century ago.
How can you agree on a future when the past has been lived so differently? Over a hundred years ago, the state forced the North Sami to move into South Sami territory. Today, their descendants are fighting in court for land, reindeer herding and the right to be Sami. The film shows how state actions continue to divide a people, and how their past still shapes their future.
