nominations are now open for the buošši award 2026

25 May 2026

Riddu Riđđu Festival and the Centre for Northern Peoples is now inviting the public to propose candidates for this year's Buošši Award, which will be presented during this year's Riddu Riđđu Festival.

The Buošš-prize is a cultural award that honours individuals, teams or associations who have made a significant contribution to promoting the South Saami language and culture – either through their work, their commitment, or by being inspiring role models within the local community.

Do you know someone who is passionate about Sámi coastal culture and makes a difference for others? Now you have the opportunity to highlight them.

The recipient of the prism must have a connection to Nord-Troms and can come from Kåfjord, Storfjord, Lyngen, Nordreisa, Kvænangen, or Karlsøy.

The prize is awarded annually at the Riddu Riđđu festival, and the winner receives 10,000 kr.

Proposals and justifications should be sent to buossi@nordligefolk.no within deadlines June 18, 2026.

It’s a great honour to present such an award. For four years, we’ve presented the award to worthy recipients who have received positive recognition for their contribution to Sámi-Norwegian language and culture.
