GLEMT is a memoir about war, about losing, about forgetting, about trying to rise again. Set aside the evening of 15 May, and remember that places are limited.
I ask my grandfather what sound he remembers best from the war. He answers «the hatch shaking shut above us when the torpedo alarm goes off.» Grandad tells me that at the age of 11 he was taken from his home and forcibly evacuated on the German boat Karl Arp. "Why hadn't I heard about this before? Why hadn't I asked?
GLEMT is a dance performance set against the backdrop of the brutal war history of northern Norway. Everyday memories, the nuances of war, taste, smell and childhood memories. The performance approaches the great war through the experiences of the little person. GLEMT is a memoir about war, about losing, about forgetting, about trying to rise again.
Both critics and audiences have taken GLEMT to their hearts, and during the performance's premiere at the Arts Festival of Northern Norway, there were both tears and applause from the audience - and sixes from the critics. Now GLEMT is finally coming to Kåfjord!
«GLEMT is a pervasive art experience. So strong. So fierce. So beautiful. So important. And so well crafted. together that all you have to do is clap your hands. For a long time. Everyone needs to see GLEMT.»
