Hamsun, Figenschow and Knut Nærum are united in a kitchen. Touring the whole of Troms and Finnmark, with detours to Nordland, in the autumn of 2026. Kristian Fr. Figenschow mirrors Hamsun's Growth of the Soil in North Norwegian storytelling tradition and theatre history. From the kitchenette, the humorist Kristian juggles his own interpretation of Hamsun's Nobel Prize-winning novel with anecdotes, readings and stories. Helped only by whatever kitchen equipment he has to hand.

In addition to characters from Growth of the Soil, we get to meet figures brought to life by the storytellers who came after Hamsun: Zapffe, Dybwad, Arntzen and more.

Knut Nærum was asked to write a piece for Kristian Figenschow based on Growth of the Soil.

While Kristian rejoiced and worked on the text, he discovered that «this book is the very beginning of the North Norwegian storytelling tradition!» And not only that – he saw that Hamsun's masterpiece also mirrors the pioneering work carried out during the establishment of Hålogaland Theatre! An actor in top form thus brings to light important parts of our history in this humorous and entertaining production.
