About the Truth and Reconciliation Commission

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission has been mandated to conduct a historical survey of the Norwegian authorities' policies towards the Sámi and the Kvens/Norwegian Finns at local, regional and national level. The Commission will investigate the effects of the Norwegianisation policy and how the policy has affected the majority population's view of the Sami, the Kvens and the Norwegian Finns. Furthermore, the commission will investigate the significance of Norwegianisation to date and propose measures that contribute to further reconciliation. The work must be completed by 1 September 2022. The report must be submitted to the Storting.
