The production S\u00e1r\u00e1hkk\u00e1 is a collaboration between our own regional joiker Ing\u00e1-M\u00e1ret Gaup-Juuso and Patrick Shaw Iversen, and is a tribute to the role and position of women in S\u00e1mi society!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What<\/strong>Concert: S\u00e1r\u00e1hkk\u00e1 Buy a ticket<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n S\u00e1r\u00e1hkk\u00e1 is the goddess of pregnancy and childbirth in S\u00e1mi religion. She plays a central role in conception and delivery, and was one of the divine beings closest to S\u00e1mi daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The woman's position as a bearer of tradition is strong in S\u00e1mi culture, as it is the woman who passes down the joik, and therefore the language, to future generations through their joik to newborn children.
