Pigeon vein<\/em> <\/strong>is a new project by poet Rawdna Carita Eira and composer H\u00e5vard Lund. A song cycle of 10 songs in South Sami, Lule Sami and North Sami takes us to a handful of islands in Nordland from R\u00f8st in the north to Torghatten in the south.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this universe, it is the islands that tell the story. Islands and weather that lie at the crossroads between the crime seas of the big world out there - and the safe fjords within. They tell us about the people they have seen, about courage and bravery, about love and greed, about past and present and a changing coast. About people who have lived side by side over the millennia. About bonds that are broken. The once strong and valuable Sea Sami culture in Nordland is almost invisible in 2018. The same goes for the history of the islanders in the north. The chiefs' wives on the Nordland boats - has anyone heard of them? With this as a starting point, author and composer have challenged each other, exchanging thoughts, sounds and words; who are we really? What do we have in common? What binds us together, and binds us to the land, to the islands, to the sea here? What is at stake now that a new age is beginning? What are the possibilities? What choices do we have? Who do we want to be?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
