A bitter brotherly feud between Kalervo and Untamo ends in bloodshed.

Untamo takes the boy in and raises him as his own. But in Kullervo grows a force that cannot be contained. His raw strength and rebellious nature inspire fear, and the villagers see him as a threat that must be removed.
