💛 A warm welcome!
In 1747, the county governor of Finnmark, Rasmus Kieldsen, made life difficult for both Kven and Sami. The injustice had to be stopped.
Knud Qvæn took on the task – and set out on a long and demanding journey from Alta to Copenhagen to present his case to the king. In this way, he wrote himself into history as the first Kven hero.
This powerful story forms the basis for the Aaret duo’s storytelling concert. Through newly written ballads and new Kven folk music, the story of Knud Qvæn’s heroic deeds is intertwined with tones that both carry tradition and create something new.
Aaret duo consists of Gro Raattama (fiddle and vocals) and Jani Suvanto (guitar, cittern and key harp). They write new music with Kven language and themes, and also perform traditional songs and dance tunes from Finnmark.
Aaret oon kansanmusikkiduo, ko pellaa tradisjunelleja sekä uussii laului ja tanssimelodiita Finnmarkusta.
