This year, the concert will feature two strong and powerful voices in the front, namely our new regional musicians; Ingá-Máret Gaup-Juuso and Niko Valkeapää!

They are accompanied by a brilliant orchestra consisting of regional musicians, Dutch violist Ingerid Waleson and bassist Svein Schultz, who has toured with Mari Boine for several years. We will be served songs and jokes from Valkeapää and Gaup-Juuso's career - both old and familiar, some new, and perhaps a duet or two. The evening's musical director, Ole Jørn Myklebust, sews it all together. The acclaimed jazz trumpeter has appeared for many years as both sideman and bandleader for Mari Boine, Jonas Fjeld and Unni Wilhelmsen, among others, and has released several critically acclaimed solo albums.

About the regional jewellers

Niko-Mihkal Valkeapää is originally from Enontekis in Finland, but has lived in Kautokeino for many years and now lives in Tromsø. He won the Sámi Grand Prix in 1994 and 1995, received the 2003 Spellemann Prize in the open category for his debut album, and in the same year won the international music prize for minority music, Liet Ynternasjonaal. His third studio album earned him two Folkelarmp awards in 2008, and for the following album he was nominated for the 2012 Spellemann Prize in the folk/traditional music category. Niko has also toured both at home and abroad for a number of years.

Ingá-Máret Gaup-Juuso has established herself as an important voice in the new generation of Sami joikers with her powerful and direct expression. She was born in the small village of Karesuando in northern Finland to parents from Enontekiö and the Kautokeino area. Her Sápmi Sessions song «Son», which was a collaboration with Loreen, was nominated in 2014 for «Swedish Song of the Year» in Aftonbladet's music award Rockbjörnen. In 2017, she received the Finnish cultural prize Larin Paraske for her work in preserving and developing Sami vocal traditions. Ingá-Máret is also a member of the project band Tundra Electro.

Infection control measures in connection with corona

Our local organisers implement infection control measures and follow recommendations from the authorities to minimise the risk of infection.

Here are some of the key points:

- Sick people should stay at home
- At least 1 metre distance between people who are not in the same household
- wash hands frequently and thoroughly
- shaking hands, hugging and unnecessary physical contact are avoided

In the event that there is a need to contact the public in connection with contact tracing and information about possible infection after the event, the local organiser will make sure to keep an overview of the public and the necessary contact information.
