Exhibition: Sexy Sápmi

16. 16th August 2021

This year's exhibition at Riddu Riđđu explores the relationship to the body, gender and sexuality from a Sami perspective. The exhibition shows works from artists who approach the themes in different ways and through different media.

While there are strong norms of silence in Sápmi, we live in a time when people are talking more and more openly and publicly about the body, gender and sexuality. Riddu Riđđu wants to support this development and contribute to a more open conversation about these important topics. How will we move forward as a society? What attitudes do we want to pass on to today's young people and future generations?

In order for the conversation to be meaningful, we need to start from our own culture and take our history into account.
