Sallikaa lasten tulla minun tykö // Let the little children come to me.
The newly written performance is about a woman’s attachment and detachment from a northern fundamentalist religion. Life inside, and her struggle for detachment and the costs of standing alone outside. The performance addresses themes such as faith, social control, children, love, betrayal, family ties, self-realization and women’s struggle.
“I am lying in bed, but I am far from sleeping. Lying as still as I can, breathing as still as I can. My daughter lies with me in the double bed. My little daughter, now a young woman. Today she told me that she is pregnant.”
